About

The Sports Med Guy, LLC is a staffing organization owned and operated by Joe Friedrich, MA, ATC, CSCS, a licensed Athletic Trainer and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. Joe coordinates Athletic Trainers who provide support to clients in a variety of settings. He brings more than 20 years of athletic training experience, having worked with athletes at every level, from high school to professional sports. His leadership sits at the intersection of athletic healthcare, operations, technology, and workforce strategy.
Joe’s experience includes more than 17 years in NCAA Division II athletics in New Jersey, complemented by service on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Athletic Trainers’ Committee, including two terms as President. His work in Division II athletics culminated in recognition by the NATA ICSM as the 2022 NCAA Division II Head Athletic Trainer of the Year.
In 2024, Joe relocated to New Mexico and transitioned into a business development role with Professional Therapy Partners (PTP), broadening his focus from individual athletic programs to systems-based healthcare strategy and workforce development. His approach to healthcare delivery and program development is informed by a master’s degree in Holistic/Integrative Health and its emphasis on patient-centered care.
Joe established the PTP service line, AT CLINIC NOW, leveraging telehealth and bundled services to support athletic trainers in traditional settings through a scalable remote staffing subscription model. The model also expands access to athletic healthcare in rural and underserved schools across New Mexico and beyond.
This combination of clinical leadership, workforce development, technology, and healthcare innovation helped shape his vision for The Sports Med App, a company he co-founded in 2026 to remove barriers between qualified clinicians and the organizations that need them. Joe is building scalable workforce infrastructure that gives athletic trainers greater mobility and professional opportunity while enabling organizations to more efficiently identify, engage, credential, and manage the clinicians they need.
The Sports Med Guy is proud to be the first client of The Sports Med App.
